Happy National Suspenders Day! Here at SuspenderStore, there's one holiday that's even more special to us than Christmas, Thanksgiving or New Year's, and that's National Suspenders Day! Every year, the holiday is celebrated on Oct. 20 to pay tribute to one of the world's best-ever accessories. Here's everything you need to know about our favorite holiday. National Suspender Day 2018 The History of National Suspenders Day Suspenders were invented way back in 1820, when British clothing designer Albert Thurston discovered the need for an accessory that would help hold up his pants. They really took off, though, when Mark Twain received a patent for suspenders with adjustable, detachable suspenders in 1871. Yes, it's true, one of the most famous writers of the 19th century was also an inventor, and we're forever grateful! Since then, suspenders have been a staple of men's fashion in nearly every decade.   National Suspenders Day was created to honor people, pets and fictional characters of all nations and backgrounds who love suspenders. It's celebrated annually on Oct. 20 regardless of the day of the week. Here at Suspender Store, it's our favorite day of the year.
